Constitutively active G13

Full name (if applicable):

Galpha 13 (Q226L)

Description (including epitope tag if present):

The mouse sequence for Gα13 with a Q226L mutation was obtained from Diane Barber (U C San Francisco) and used to prepare adenovirus using the pAdTrack system by Yan Bi in the Williams lab.

How used:

The viral vector has been used to overexpress active G13 in mouse pancreatic cells.  Overexpressed protein can be demonstrated by Western blotting using a rabbit Ab to G13 from Santa Cruz after 12 to 14 hours.  This was accompanied by activation of RhoA, disruption of the filamentous actin cytoskeleton and formation of basolateral blebs.
